Product details

The private customer business of the German insurance industry is facing its greatest challenge in 50 years. The industry structure analysis prepared in 2005 illustrates the impact of demographic change on the macroeconomic environment of the German insurance industry. Low birth rates and rising life expectancy are leading to a major change in the age structure and, from 2050, to a significant decline in the German population. The declining labor force potential on the one hand and the rising costs of an aging society on the other will ensure, among other things, rising spending on social security and healthcare. Falling net wages and the increase in elderly customers are substantially changing the demand for insurance solutions. Growing competition from foreign insurers and competing products from banks and investment companies.
