The Beginnings of Eurythmy: Documents on an Eventful Time Rudolf Steiner: The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1918-1920
This volume is, in a sense, the continuation of the fundamentally revised new edition of The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1912-1918, published in 2022. It now deals with the three intensive years from 1918 to 1920, during which numerous eurythmy performances took place and Rudolf Steiner gave around seventy addresses in which he illuminated eurythmy from ever different angles. Among other things, they deal with the relationship of eurythmy to other arts, the nature of sounds and language, Goethe's world view and the doctrine of metamorphosis, the study of man and much more. Three aspects of eurythmy become visible: the artistic, the hygienic-therapeutic and the pedagogical-didactic. Rudolf Steiner regularly addresses the basic, artistic and pedagogical significance of eurythmy. What makes this volume particularly attractive are the illustrations of all the eurythmy posters, announcements, notes and programmes preserved for the performances and addresses. In this way the mood and style in which the unfolding of this completely new art of movement took place become vivid. Two further volumes are planned for the years from 1921 to 1924.
