Sten Nadolny, born in 1942 in Zehdenick on the Havel River, lives in Berlin. For his work, he has received several awards, including the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 1980, the Hans Fallada Prize in 1985, the Premio Vallombrosa in 1986, the Ernst Hoferichter Prize in 1995, and the Weilheim Literature Prize in 2010. Following his literary debut "Netzkarte," the novel "The Discovery of Slowness" was published in 1983 and has since been translated into all world languages, becoming a modern classic of German literature. After that, Sten Nadolny published the novels "Selim or The Gift of Speech," "A God of Impudence," "He or I," the "Ullstein Novel," and most recently the book "Cleaning and Mending Hour," which he co-wrote with Jens Sparschuh.
