Blurb
" The Discovery of Slowness" is at first glance both a sea captain's novel, a tale of adventure and longing, and a coming-of-age story. However, Sten Nadolny has rewritten the biography of the English seafarer and Arctic explorer John Franklin (1786 - 1847) into a subtle study of time. "Nadolny and his John Franklin discover slowness as a humane principle. One could also say: mindfulness, a careful approach to oneself and to things.".
