The young woman was particularly successful, beautiful, and wealthy. Her name was Alexandra Wijkner, and no one in the town can explain her death. By chance, journalist Erica Falck gets drawn into the case. She is in Fjällbacka to check on her abandoned childhood home. Since she is a childhood friend of the deceased, she is commissioned to write an obituary. Patrick Hedström, also a schoolmate, is leading the police investigation, and although Erica initially prefers to conduct her own research, the two grow closer both professionally and personally. The couple also focuses on the family of the canned goods manufacturer Lorentz, the drunkard Anders, the unloved husband of the deceased, and her friend Francine. However, it seems that an old story lies behind the crime. There is someone who has known Alex since childhood and who is devoted to his ice princess.
