Author's Text
Tomi Ungerer, born in 1931, comes from a family of watchmakers in Strasbourg. He failed his high school exams, traveled across Europe, and published his first drawings in Simplizissimus. In the mid-1950s, he moved to New York, where his unstoppable rise as a designer, painter, illustrator, children's book author, and advertising graphic artist began. After spending several years on a farm in Nova Scotia, Canada, he now lives with his family in the southwest of Ireland and in Strasbourg.

Tomi Ungerer's picture book about the orphan girl Tiffany, who falls into the hands of three robbers, is a classic of children's literature. Since its publication in 1961, it has sold over 500,000 copies and has been translated into 18 languages.
