"The Great Dictator," "Judgement at Nuremberg," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Saving Private Ryan": The abundance of Hollywood productions that deal with the Third Reich is nearly inexhaustible. Against the backdrop of the respective real political and social situations, the perspective of the world's largest film metropolis and its studios on Hitler's dictatorship evolved, as did the way it was cinematically processed. After the production of so-called anti-Nazi films, especially during World War II, there is now no film genre that has not addressed the topic in its own way. This work from 2001 discusses, through several film examples, the attributes and diversity with which the Third Reich has been portrayed in Hollywood cinema over the decades.
