For only a short time, the 01.10 locomotives, which were acquired starting in 1939, were able to serve as shining streamlined engines in high-quality plans. War and the post-war period quickly led to their decline. Only with the Federal Railway could they demonstrate their performance - "de-streamlined" and modernized - with monthly mileage of up to 28,000 km. The 01.10 series stands alone in its history, and to this day, the operational locomotives attract crowds, whether in fully booked special trains with 13 cars or among the devoted community of railway enthusiasts who see in it perhaps the most fascinating German express steam locomotive. The 01.10 combines several highlights: the strongest German series express steam locomotive, the highest monthly mileages in German and European steam locomotive operations, the highest annual mileages, and the fastest steam-hauled trains.
