Die Auslandsadoption und ihre besonderen Herausforderungen

The business of children is booming across all continents. Children are being traded like commodities. On one side are childless couples who long for offspring more than anything else. On the other side, there are fewer and fewer domestic children available for adoption. The gap between supply and demand is significant. In addition to the often lengthy process of adopting a domestic child, the option to adopt a child from abroad has become established in recent years. With the increasing interest in this, the international adoption system has developed and organized itself. However, experts emphasize that adoptive parents must be accompanied and supported in facing the unique challenges that can lead to significant adjustment difficulties. These include, among other things, dealing with the child's background and identity formation, potential medical deficiencies, and psychological impairments. The focus of this book is on the specific challenges of international adoption. Additionally, the adoption practices are exemplarily presented based on the federal states of Upper Austria and Vienna.
