Product details

The Corona pandemic and the measures taken against it are changing personal and societal realities in a way and intensity not seen since World War II. How do people live within this context - with themselves, with others, and how do they cope with the restrictions and official regulations? The protagonist, Georg B., a successful employee of a large financial services provider, has been leading a double life between Zurich and St. Gallen for several years, with two families who know nothing about each other. Both themes converge for him: his previous life plan is forcibly brought to an end by a mandated quarantine measure. However, he cannot choose between Claudia and Rita and the children; he has no place for that. Instead, he disappears from everyone and goes underground. But this escape is not a permanent solution; it pushes for an ending that is also accelerated by some chance events. While the two women, Rita and Claudia, each speak from a first-person perspective, the reader can only approach Georg B. and his thoughts and experiences in the third person. Although there are some insights into his inner system ("never lose control...") as well as childhood experiences and traumas, he remains mysterious in his thought world and motives. In the end, he seems to dissolve in his isolation.
