The "Notes on Theater" by Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz are among the most important and idiosyncratic writings in German literature that address the theory of poetry and the aesthetic consideration of the drama genre. Theodor Friedrich provides a detailed analysis of the structure and composition of the "Notes" in the first part, concluding that they consist of three oral presentations given by Lenz to the Strasbourg Society, which he later compiled into a theory. The second part features a reprint of the "Notes on Theater." This is a reprint of the original edition from 1908.
