Young Hugo Navratil has to go back to the Austrian province. His grandfather, with whom he shared a love of nature and a small hunting dog, has died. The Burgenland village, the forest, friend and foe, everything seems the same to Hugo. But at the funeral he notices two women. They are looking for an antique shotgun, and they believe that Hugo knows where it is. The more Hugo deals with them, the better he understands that the old man had many quite beautiful faces. Only what is it about the compound in which he and these women once came together?
