Product details

The "General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money" is considered the major work of the British economist John Maynard Keynes. The work appeared in 1936 and challenged the classical economic theory that had dominated until then. Keynes particularly rejected the assumption that a free market inevitably leads to a macroeconomic equilibrium in which full employment is also achieved, and criticized the "laissez-faire" policy that had prevailed until then. Instead, he called for an active state economic policy. The work heralded the Keynesian Revolution in economic science. The magnum opus of the great economist is now available in a completely new translation. Keynes's ideas and conclusions, some of which are revolutionary and seem highly topical in view of the economic turbulence and crises of the new millennium, are now available in a completely new translation.
