Pablo Neruda is considered one of the most significant poets in world literature. With "20 Love Poems and a Song of Despair," he captured the hearts of readers far beyond the borders of South America. Forty years after Neruda's death, 21 poems were discovered in the estate of the Nobel laureate - including six new love poems. In "I Sought You," Neruda sings of love and the pain of separation, recounting stories of Chile, the nature of his homeland, and travel. Verses were spontaneously written on scraps of paper, menu cards, concert programs, as the facsimiles included in this volume demonstrate. In these poems, discovered only a few years ago, we encounter one of the most important Latin American authors of the 20th century at the peak of his creative powers.
