The book is aimed at relatives of people with dementia and encourages a more relaxed coexistence despite the progressing illness. It presents solutions for seemingly hopeless situations in everyday life with dementia patients. The concept focuses on changing attitudes and centers on the caregiving relatives: a shift in perspective can lead to a better understanding of the person with dementia. This can result in a more relaxed interaction and make challenging situations more bearable, ensuring that self-care for the caregiver is not neglected. The new edition has been supplemented with insights from the COVID-19 pandemic. The author draws on a wealth of case studies and personal accounts from her 10 years of working with support groups for relatives: in 10 clear and easily understandable steps, the reader is guided to reflect on their attitudes and perceptions in daily life with the person suffering from dementia. Throughout, the relationship and communication remain at the forefront.
