Diabetes Burden

"Diabetes Burden" is a specialized book that addresses the growing issue of diabetes mellitus in India. It highlights the impact of this disease on various social strata and age groups. Diabetes mellitus is described as a heterogeneous group of metabolic disorders characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and disturbances in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. The book is based on a study of the prevalence of hypomagnesemia in patients with type 2 diabetes and examines the relationship between serum magnesium concentrations and the micro- and macrovascular complications of diabetes, such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. The results indicate that lower magnesium concentrations are associated with a higher prevalence of diabetic complications. The aim of the book is to raise awareness of this issue among both professionals and the public.
