Deutschland ein Jahrhundert - Bildband

It all began with a teacher who discovered his passion for traveling with a camera. With his desire to capture the impressions of his hiking tours through Europe photographically, Kurt Hielscher laid the foundation for a new book format: the travel photo book. The majority of his photographs were taken between the First and Second World Wars, telling stories of places and landscapes where time seems to stand still in a wonderful way. The intensity and depth of his images, as well as the tranquility and strength of the subjects, continue to inspire photographers to this day.

With Wolfgang Henkel and Peter Schubert, two admirers of Hielscher have set out to juxtapose his photographs from Germany with contemporary images. With great effort and meticulousness, they searched for the locations where Kurt Hielscher pressed the shutter of his camera nearly 100 years ago, aiming to capture that same perspective once again.

The result is an impressive visual time leap that simultaneously showcases the beauty and transformation of our homeland.
