Digitalisation and information security are inextricably linked Information security and digitalisation are two sides of the same coin. The BSI stands for both and, as the federal cyber security authority, is a shaper of secure digitalisation. Like the spider in the cyber security web, it is networked in many ways - both internally and externally. The German IT Security Congress, which the BSI hosted for the 17th time on 2 and 3 February 2021, is also part of this networked thinking. The programme of this year's virtual congress included around 30 specialist presentations on topics such as social engineering, emergency services for SMEs, highly secure cloud, cyber resilience, post-quantum cryptography, dealing with data protection disasters, awareness training and identity theft. In the BSI's anniversary year, the IT Security Congress was held under the motto "Deutschland. Digital. Secure. 30 years of BSI" also provided an opportunity to look back on 30 years of information security in Germany.
