Deutsche Phraseologismen mit Toponymen und das Problem ihrer Übersetzbarkeit ins Polnische

Multi-word structures that exhibit strong stability and are more or less idiomatic present a particular challenge when translating into other languages. This book illustrates the issue using German and Polish phraseological units with geographical names. Maciej Krysciak exemplifies phraseologisms listed in common German-Polish dictionaries, determining the degree of their phraseological equivalence, exploring their etymological backgrounds, and examining the proposed translations for their accuracy. He also discusses the methods available to translators and the culture-specific peculiarities that lie behind the phraseological expressions containing toponyms.
