The recognition of sign language as a minority language and the growing self-awareness of deaf individuals have increased interest in German Sign Language (DGS) and the desire to learn it. The demand for qualified DGS interpreting services also opens up an interesting professional field. With this textbook and workbook, the authors respond to the need for a systematic, application-oriented teaching resource. The first part is dedicated to the manual components of DGS (phonology, morphology, syntax), while the second part addresses the non-manual aspects (facial expressions, mouth gestures, head and body posture).
