Product details

200 years of history of the German Horticultural Society, told in contributions by 20 authors. From Goethe's garden to the future vision of a city as garden: a varied ride through garden history, social history, horticultural history and art history. By 20 prominent authors from all disciplines. The DGG was founded as an association for economic promotion in Prussia at the instigation of Friedrich Wilhelm III, expanded to become the horticultural society for all of Germany, brought into line during the Third Reich, refounded by Theodor Heuss, nurtured by Lennart Bernadotte during the postwar Federal Republic on the flower island of Mainau, and finally brought back to the capital city of Berlin for new impetus in the 21st century.
