Descartes und das Problem der Philosophie

Descartes' understanding of philosophy takes shape, among other things, through a multifaceted engagement with theology. Equally influential, especially in his early work, are scientific concepts, although their fascination gradually diminishes in favor of ideas such as meditation, reiteration, and reflection. In this context, the changing evaluation of innovation and priority, as well as the role of authority and tradition in Descartes' philosophy, are illuminated. His carefully concealed language model and its relevance to his concept of philosophy are interpreted, and his earliest philosophical thought experiments, his treatise on the love of God, and the increasingly fragile distinction between philosophizing and philosophy are examined.
