Des lois d'exception? / Special laws?

In Switzerland, until 1981, a legal framework allowed for the confinement of individuals whose behavior was deemed to deviate from prevailing norms regarding work, family, or sexuality. Under the pretext of regulating the costs of care and protecting public order and morality, administrative measures excluded these individuals from common law. This book sheds light on the political, social, and scientific conditions that enabled the creation, maintenance, and ultimately the repeal of such legal foundations. It reveals the tensions and contradictions between the rule of law, justice, and personal freedom.
