Der Zeichner und Maler Cesare Nebbia 1526-1614

This work is dedicated to the painter and draftsman Cesare Nebbia from Orvieto, who is one of the most influential representatives of late Roman Mannerism. He was primarily involved in significant commissions in Rome and Orvieto during the second half of the 16th century and the early 17th century. The book begins with an appreciation of the entire graphic oeuvre, which is examined chronologically in connection with the artist's painted works. It also sheds light on the commissioning practices of the time and the collaboration of prominent artists in the papal workshops. Attached is a catalogue raisonné of all known drawings by Nebbia.
