Der Zauberer von Oz

The Wizard of Oz retold and illustrated anew. Sébastien Perez has reimagined the famous story in a light and poetic style; he tells it from the perspective of the Scarecrow, who mistakenly believes he is foolish. For not only does he protect Dorothy, but he also keeps the group together, including Dorothy's dog Toto, the Tin Man, and the Lion, always finding a solution in dangerous situations. Yet it is the clever Scarecrow who wishes to be endowed with brains by the Wizard, just as the brave Tin Man desires a heart and the courageous Lion seeks courage. The illustrations by Benjamin Lacombe add a touch of magic to the narrative. The emerald green of the Emerald City increasingly permeates the images throughout the adventure, enhanced by the graphic effect of a fifth color, a metallic green. Additionally, the ornaments in a blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco make the book a gem.
