Product details

I do not measure myself to write the history of the World War. That may be reserved for calmer times, when humanity has gained some distance from the events of the World War. However, I do believe that I can and must say some things today - and not entirely unimportant ones - about the history of the World War. My personal fate has led me in such a way that for a number of years I have been involved in the developments that preceded the war, which tightened the knot and seemed at times to unravel it again, and that I was ultimately involved in the events of the war itself, either directly or indirectly, gaining insight or acting. The sincere will for truth has guided my pen. Therefore, I dare to hope that these pages will help restore the much abused and cruelly distorted truth to its rightful place and thus contribute to the healing of minds and conditions in Germany, as well as to the establishment of tolerable relations between nations.

The present third volume deals with America's intervention in the First World War up to the collapse of Germany. Karl Helfferich was a German economist, banker, and politician. He lived from 1872 to 1924.

The Verlag der Wissenschaften publishes historical literature by both well-known and lesser-known scientific authors. This makes works that have long been out of print accessible again to interested readers. The present book is an unaltered reprint of the historical original edition from 1919.
