The digital change in society has already significantly influenced many industries. This change is also taking place in the book market. Only those companies that embrace change and adapt their business model to their capabilities can maintain their revenues. This book provides a brief explanation of change in general and the tools of change management used to counter change. After an overview of the German book market with all its market participants and an explanation of how it works, we will focus in particular on stationary book retailing. In addition to the changed purchasing behaviour of consumers, e.g. with regard to shopping times, distribution channels or shopping locations, concentration and cooperation in book retailing will also be discussed. In addition, the study examines how digital innovations can improve the quality of life of consumers.
