September 2017: Neuhaus, an investigator from Frankfurt, joins Berlin's newly formed "Special Counterterrorism Unit," which is based in a barracks on the site of the former Tempelhof Airport. The federal elections are approaching, and the threat situation in the capital has worsened drastically. Neuhaus is an experienced investigator, but his Berlin colleagues meet him with skepticism. Only the young German Turk Suna-Marie cooperates with him.
Then a series of murders shakes the capital. The first victim: a Jewish activist, the second a Muslim lawyer, others follow.
What connects the cases? Neuhaus, the soloist, sets out to find out. And in this city, where the past jumps at you everywhere and the present presses down on you, he fights alone. Almost alone.
