Abstract: Konrad Zuse is now almost unanimously recognized worldwide as the creator of the first computer. His machine Z3 is considered the world's first functional program-controlled computer and can be regarded with minimal restrictions as the prototype of today's modern computer. Konrad Zuse aimed to free people from simple and complicated calculations. Through the invention of the computer, he transformed the everyday culture of many individuals. Digital computing systems are among the main components of numerous devices such as smartphones, vending machines, televisions, washing machines, and more. Nevertheless, the computer remains one of the most complex and versatile tools ever invented by mankind. This paper provides a detailed account of Konrad Zuse's life and further explains the significance of his computing machines for today's world.
