Only those who stand by themselves can be free. I hear a click. The door has closed. I slowly place my hand on the doorknob, but it won't open. I press the knob up and down faster and pull on it. But the door doesn't budge at all. The wool of my sweater scratches my neck. With my other hand, I grab the collar and pull it down. But it’s not that which is choking my neck. I bang on the door and start to whimper: “Let me out! Please, just let me out!”
Hedwig still lives with her parents, even though she would rather venture out into the world. The safety of her childhood home holds her back, but she wants more, though she isn’t quite sure what or how. To give space to her feelings and desires, she loves to draw. One day, she finally gathers her courage and applies for an art program she has been dreaming of for a long time. Yet she hesitates time and again, sometimes out of guilt towards her parents, sometimes out of fear of the unknown. She is on the verge of giving up her dream when suddenly strange things start happening in the house. She sees things that aren’t there, objects disappear and reappear elsewhere, and she feels a presence that grows stronger.
As she investigates the haunting, she gradually realizes that these manifestations are triggered by her own innermost desires. She becomes bolder, develops self-confidence, and is ready for a new life. But will she truly overcome her fears?.
