His most famous poem remains part of the timeless legacy of poetry to this day. In 108 verses, he depicts the midnight visit of a raven to a despairing man whose beloved Lenore has died. The first German translation by Elise von Hohenhausen is newly interpreted and illustrated by Marta Monika Czerwinski. The name stands for eerie and dark depths: Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) is considered a pioneer of symbolism and a master of subtle horror. Poe's poems, stories, and short tales are among the great works of his time.
