The new neighbor contains the stories from the years 1925-1934, during which Vladimir Nabokov lived in Berlin. Tschorb's Return and Berlin, a city guide, were created in 1925 and point to what was to come: From then on, Nabokov would tear his readers from their accustomed worldview, with art becoming synonymous for him with the willingness to view the world with a sense of the perceptible, as through a telescope or microscope.
