Der nackte Wahnsinn

On a hot summer day, the narrator attends several apartment viewings and wanders through Schwabing and neighboring districts. In his encounters with places and friends, he immerses himself in the Munich of the Fin de siècle and the 1980s, recounting tales of black widows and his great love. He meets Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Klaus Lemke at a café on Leopoldstrasse, the fashion-conscious Carry Brachvogel at the Chinese Tower, the talkative Oskar Maria Graf at Atzinger, Otto Gross and Ali Mitgutsch on Türkenstrasse, the frivolous Emmy Hennings with the puma at Café Luitpold, and many other figures and residents of Schwabing's shadowy realm. Up close and in retrospect, he experiences the changes and constants of life in the big city.
