Der Maler Gerhard Ahnfeldt - dem Vergessen entrissen

Gerhard Ahnfeldt, born in Rostock and suffering from tuberculosis at the age of 18, was initially an excellent draftsman. Later, he devoted himself primarily to oil painting. He lived and worked mainly in Davos (1939-1956), but spent the last eight years in Cairo for health reasons, where he died in 1964. His graphic work, which begins with illustrations of literary works and continues throughout his life, is highly delicate. The small watercolors, gouaches, and oil miniatures are among the most delightful creations he produced.
