Product details

Gottfried Keller (1819 - 1890) was one of the most successful German-speaking writers of the 19th century. He is regarded as a master of the novella and one of the most significant narrators of bourgeois realism. The novella "The Landvogt of Greifensee" is inspired by the life of the landvogt Salomon Landolt, whose failed love stories are recounted here: Landolt remembers the five women he once loved, all of whom rejected him in turn, and decides to reunite and rekindle the "five old flames at his hearth." Additionally, the collection includes the novellas "The Banner of the Seven Upright," "The Poor Baroness," and "The Dance Legend." Reprint of the 2nd edition, no date.
