Jobst Grau, an editor at a Bonn daily newspaper, is fed up with his job; not even the prospect of a vacation lifts his spirits. Then he receives a call from Al White, an agent of the DEA, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Although the two men only know each other casually, when White offers the journalist a lucrative job, Grau does not say no. He is tasked with locating Ulrich Steeben, a courier from the Foreign Office, who allegedly flew from Rio to Berlin with 10 million dollars and 50 pounds of pure cocaine and is now missing. Grau travels to Berlin to gather information in the scene. His first point of contact is nightclub owner Timo Sundern, who has his fingers in many pies. Additionally, Sundern's ex-wife Meike Kern was good friends with the missing Ulrich Steeben—does she know anything about the courier's whereabouts?.
