Product details

"The Uprising is Coming" is a book that has written contemporary history: Following sabotage on a railway line where a Castor transport of radioactive material was planned for November 2008, it was treated by the French government as the only piece of evidence in a now internationally known terrorism case, serving as a manual for terrorism and a pretext for the scandalous, often months-long detention of nine individuals from the village of Tarnac. In reality, the book contains a pointed, situationist analysis of government reactions to various unrests and popular uprisings in recent years. The burning suburbs in France, the street violence in Greece, etc., are seen by governments as threats that must be contained through police and military means, with crisis management also aimed at holding society together. However, for the authors of this manifesto, the revolts are revolutionary moments, symptoms of the collapse of Western democracies that reinforce and spread among each other. They advocate for a communism that envisions an open-ended process of forming communes and restructuring the economy into small, local units, and they call for an anonymous position of invisibility.
