Der kluge Fischer

The story by the Nobel Prize winner is presented for the first time as a picture book, illustrated by the award-winning Émile Bravo. In a small harbor, a fisherman takes his siesta in the morning. A tourist wakes him up with the clicking of his camera and asks why he doesn't go out to sea. The fisherman replies that he has already been out. The tourist then asks why he doesn't go out again, suggesting that with a larger catch, he could buy boats and a fish factory. In the end, he would be so rich that he wouldn't have to work anymore and could sit in the sun in the mornings. To this, the fisherman responds, "But that's exactly what I'm doing; it's just the clicking of your camera that disturbed me." A timeless fable about happiness.
