Little Cedric Errol from New York is quite astonished when a stranger suddenly appears before him and tells him that he is a real lord. After the death of his father, Cedric becomes the last heir to the title of Earl, and his cold-hearted grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, brings the boy to England to raise him in a manner befitting his status. Cedric's mother, an American, is not allowed to enter the Earl's estate and lives in a small house on the outskirts of the village. With his open and friendly nature, the little lord gradually wins over his grandfather, persuading him to renovate the poor district of the village. Eventually, the Earl realizes that Cedric's mother, who cares for the poor, is also a virtuous woman and welcomes her to his castle.
