The Dumbest Farmers. Old Fritz did a lot for his Prussia, as we all know. In particular, he played a significant role in the introduction of the potato. So, what could be more fitting than to create a book using the potato printing technique? The idea is so obvious that no one has thought of it until now—except for the brilliant Christoph Niemann. The story of the introduction of the potato in Germany goes like this: Old Fritz wanted to introduce the potato, but the farmers were resistant because they didn't know it. So, Old Fritz resorted to a trick. He established a royal potato field, around which he stationed a large number of heavily armed soldiers. As a result, the farmers concluded that something so heavily guarded must be very valuable. And when Old Fritz then ordered the soldiers to be a bit less diligent in their duties, the farmers came in droves.
