This biography provides well-founded insights into Adolf Hitler's childhood and youth, which up to now have often received too little attention - and also corrects many a misjudgement of the roots of his world view, which Hitler himself certainly contributed to creating. Admittedly, there are many books on the subject of Hitler. But hardly any work has taken the time to lay the foundations of his world view: childhood and youth. Author Dirk Bavendamm meticulously traces those years in the life of the later "Führer" and Chancellor of the Reich which - as with every human being - were formative for the further course of life. A glance at Hitler's own descriptions in "Mein Kampf" is by no means enough, for in this autobiography of his early years, too, childhood and youth are portrayed either incompletely or in a self-idealizing way. And so the author begins his research.
