Dario Calimani, born in 1946 in Venice, studied English language and literature at Ca' Foscari University. He taught at the universities of Cagliari, Trieste, and Venice, where he was a full professor of English literature. His writings focus on W. Shakespeare, T. S. Eliot, J. Joyce, O. Wilde, G. B. Shaw, J. M. Synge, W. B. Yeats, S. Beckett, H. Pinter, and others. He has always been active in Jewish life in Italy and served as president of the Jewish Community of Venice from 2002 to 2006. Since March 2021, he has been president of the Jewish Community of Venice again and regularly contributes to the online publication Moked of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities.

Hans Raimund, born in 1945, studied music, German studies, and English studies. He worked as a teacher from 1972 to 1997, including at the UWC of the Adriatic from 1984 to 1997, and worked as a freelance writer and translator in Duino near Trieste. Since 1981, he has published books and has made numerous translations from English, French, Italian, and Portuguese. He has received several awards, including the W. H. Auden Translation Prize, the Georg Trakl Prize, the Anton Wildgans Prize, the Recognition Prize of the State of Lower Austria, the Recognition Prize of the T. Kery Foundation, and the City of Vienna Literature Prize for his lifetime achievement.
