Der Internistenkongress in Wiesbaden 1882-2022

The "Conference für Innere Medicin" (Conference for Internal Medicine), founded in Wiesbaden in 1882, has chosen its "birthplace and home town" 107 times in the course of its 140-year history, and only 20 times for other towns and cities. The Kurhaus was "normally" available for the specialist lectures and the social programme. As a result of the steadily increasing number of participants and the equally growing exhibition industry, the rooms in the building proved to be insufficient. Under pressure from internists and exhibitors, local politicians decided to build the Rhein-Main Halle (1957) and, when this could no longer cope with the spatial and technical demands, to construct the ultra-modern RheinMain CongressCenter (2018).r The book presents the development of the congress and its friendly - although not entirely conflict-free - relationship with the "birthplace and home town".
