The Gymer tells stories and the history of the Gymnasium Kirchenfeld. While it traces back to the beginnings of secondary education in the city and republic of Bern, the focus is on the more recent developments since 1980. The book documents this diverse transformation, featuring a detailed chronology of events from school and student life, the educational landscape, and school politics. Thematic chapters—such as the question of women's roles or the history of construction sites—along with eighteen interviews with former and current staff members broaden the range of perspectives on the history of the Gymnasium.
