Philip Pullman, born in Norwich/England in 1946, grew up in Rhodesia, Australia, London and Wales. After school English studies at Exeter College/Oxford, then teacher at various middle schools. Today he is also active as a literature lecturer and publishes picture, children's and youth books, writes plays and thrillers. In 2005 he received the Astrid Lindgren Prize for Literature.
