Oscar Marcel Hinze (1931-2008) studied natural sciences and psychology. It became a central concern for him to work on the foundations of natural sciences in the sense of a reorientation and to demonstrate corresponding research pathways. For this purpose, he developed the fundamentals of a phenomenological philosophy of science, which he called "methodical phenomenology." Equally central to his work was the comparative examination of philosophy, natural science, and religion in both the Western and Eastern worlds. He began giving lectures on these topics at an early age. His lecture activities took him several times to India in the 1970s, where he spoke at various universities about the connections between the Indian chakra system and the "gestalt astronomy" that he had rediscovered and redefined. Until 1996, he regularly held seminars and gave many lectures. O. M. Hinze spent his later years in Switzerland.
