Der gestiefelte Kater

When his father dies, Hans, the youngest son of the miller, is left with nothing but his cat. While he sadly contemplates whether to make a pair of gloves or a cat roast out of it, the animal suddenly starts to speak. To help his master, it says, it needs a pair of boots. Hans thinks it's a ridiculous idea, but since he can't think of anything better, he sacrifices his last gold coins.
