Before departing for inspection in the East Mark, SS-Oberscharführer Ernst van Berckh hands over General Kammler's service vehicle for modifications to engineers from the secret SS development workshops in Pilsen. Meetings are held regarding the construction projects "Bergkristall," "Quarz," "Schlier," and the southern facility "Zement," which represent the decentralized "Alpenfestung," a location the Allies will feverishly search for later. When van Berckh wonders why construction plans need to be altered due to the installation of a large distillery for water, he learns details about the utilization of uranium energy. For the hard-working Kammler staff, the SS-Oberscharführer, who has now decided on an SS career, organizes an outing with a horse-drawn sleigh.
