Here, Ijon Tichy, the hero of so many Lemian tales, stays unusually grounded, that is, on Earth. However, this does not mean that he becomes bored here; quite the opposite: he is shot at, frozen, thawed, anesthetized, dazed, delighted, and ultimately ends up with a rat's tail. The Futurological Congress is one of the great dystopias of the 20th century - but it is significantly funnier than the works of Orwell, Huxley, or Atwood.
