Many people want to become self-employed. Successful startups create jobs and contribute to growth, including for their investors. However, unlike the assessment of existing companies, there are no historical data to analyze for founders. The risk of failure is high. Therefore, the creditworthiness assessment must rely on other, softer information. One of the central factors is the evaluation of the founder's personality. As the author aptly puts it on page 2: The bank faces the challenge of distinguishing a visionary from a dreamer. But how is the founder's personality specifically assessed in the context of creditworthiness evaluation? And what influence do the results have on the credit decision? How much weight does the evaluation of the founder's personality carry in the credit decision? To answer these questions, the author conducted a written survey of all savings banks in Bavaria. The findings of the study lead to recommendations for both founders and assessing banks.
